Sri. T.T. Rangarajan

 Sri. T.T. Rangarajan

We are privileged to be born in a country where ideas and ideals are manifestations, rather than mere abstractions,” said T. T. Rangarajan, spiritual guru and founder of Alma Mater, at the ninth anniversary celebrations of his magazine, Frozen Thoughts.
It was also our 62nd Independence Day, so when Rangarajan spoke these words, they were enormously pertinent, symbolising much of what the nation has been working towards for the last six decades.
In 1995, Rangarajan founded Alma Mater, an organisation that has been instructing people in meditation techniques and holistic living, and conducting training programmes and residential spiritual retreats aimed at personality development.
He also released his book Unposted Letter, a compilation of inspirational lessons, to help people understand and contend with life’s everyday issues.
“I cherish small beginnings,” he said, remembering the days when Frozen Thoughts made its humble beginning, with only a handful of writers — it is now read in more than 65 countries around the world.
Upon releasing the book, Rangarajan invited the audience to call out any page-number, and saying it would be invariably relevant to their lives. “Page 76!” requested a voice from the crowd.
Rangarajan opened the book, and read out the question “So what if there is economic recession?” much to the delight of the audience.
“Where the mind is led forward by thee, into ever-widening thought and action, into that heaven of freedom my Father, let my country awake,” Rangarajan quoted, from Tagore’s stirring poem.
